How It Works
How It Works
1 Research Held Monies
The Fund Finder locates, researches, and audits financial assets owed to private individuals which have been held by State, Federal and Municipal courts across the country.
Usually, there is a very short window of time to claim these funds before they are permanently lost (escheated) to the government agency holding them.
2 Contact Rightful Owner
Once an initial audit of governmental agency records has been performed, we contact the rightful owner and conduct preliminary research of the funds being held.
We determine the cost of retrieval, the likelihood of counterclaims, and the potential timing of when the court will disburse the funds.
3 We Pay Upfront Fees
We never charge an upfront fee and take full responsibility for all upfront expenses incurred, including attorney's fees even if attempts to collect the funds prove unsuccessful.
We are paid our fee and reimbursed expenses ONLY upon successful collection of your funds. Otherwise, you owe us nothing.
4 Receive Your Check
We assist you with completing all the paperwork and necessary steps to process your claim.
Once your claim is confirmed and processed; the government agency will disburse your funds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a Collection Agency?
No, we are not, just the opposite. A collection agency specializes in the collection of delinquent debt. Whereas, The Fund Finder specializes in locating and helping individuals and businesses in retrieving funds that are rightfully theirs.
This sounds too good to be true!?
We completely understand this impression and encounter it every day. We do not ask for any upfront fees. We are contacting you because based on our research, we believe that you are the rightful owner of the unclaimed funds we have located. Besides, we are paid on a contingency basis which means that we are only paid once we expedite the claim on your behalf. So there's no risk to you and possibly so much to gain!
Why should I speak with you?
This is not a random call. The Fund Finder has already expended great effort to determine who is entitled to the funds we have located. It is definitely worth investing a few minutes of time to gather additional details. If you prefer, we can speak with a relative, trusted friend, or advisor. Again, we will never ask you to pay any upfront costs and/or out-of- pocket expenses. Please understand that in some cases, if no action is taken your claim to unrecovered monies could expire allowing the state to retain the funds forever.
Where are the funds being held?
Funds are often held in estates, unclaimed insurance, eminent domain, condemnation files, as the result of a foreclosure, etc. Once you have approved the agreement enlisting our assistance in retrieving the funds, we will communicate any remaining details not previously provided.
How do the funds become unclaimed?
In most cases, due to a name or address change of the rightful owner, incomplete information, and/or expiration of forwarding address by the time notification of the funds has been mailed; many people are unaware they are due funds.
How were you able to locate these funds?
We audit government agencies nationwide on a regular basis for unclaimed funds due to private citizens like you.
How did you find me?
We locate our clients via federal, state, county, public, and private resources; including subscriptions to several proprietary databases. This makes up our greatest investment of time and resources.
When will I be paid?
The time processing time varies by government agency. The average is usually 3 to 6 months once the government accepts your claim. However, it could take longer. It's important to provide all requested information to avoid delays.
How much is the claim and what can I expect to receive?
The amount held by the government is subject to any outstanding liens you may owe. Our offer is based on risk, the time investment required, the amount owed, and the cost to retrieve the held funds.
Do I have to send you
any money?
We handle the upfront recovery costs, including attorney fees and court costs, even if our efforts prove to be unsuccessful. If we are successful, those upfront costs expended by us are deducted from the recovered amount.
Is there a deadline to claim these funds?
Each government agency has a deadline for making a claim to recover surplus funds from foreclosures. Once that deadline has passed, the funds are no longer recoverable. Unclaimed funds are held by government agencies until the funds are recovered.
What is the cost to have you recover the funds?
The Fund Finder’s agreement provides for the retrieval of the financial asset on a fee percentage basis contingent upon the successful recovery of your monies. We factor in what is required to document ownership, the risk we undertake relative to the amount we must expend to prove ownership, the difficulty in recovering the funds, research, defending against fraudulent claims, and attentiveness to the numerous other details to complete the recovery of the funds that are rightfully yours.
What do I have to do to begin the recovery process?
To start the process, you will return our fully executed agreement including a notarized copy and limited power of attorney. This will give us permission and the authority to act on your behalf to request the release of the funds. The limited Power of Attorney specifies that it is valid for “one transaction only” and describes the specific actions that we may take to assist you in recovering your funds.
From time to time, the agency holding the assets may request additional information and/or documentation. To get started, give us a call at 855.614.FUND or contact us via email at contact@fundfinder.com.
Can’t I find and claim this money without you?
Yes. However, there are some cases where the government agencies we research do not post these unclaimed accounts online. If you do decide to pursue the funds yourself, we suggest you consider hiring an attorney to assist with claiming the funds and navigating the legal hurdles.
Why should I use
Fund Finder?
Since some of the assets we locate aren't listed online, it may be difficult to locate them without the assistance of an organization like ours. Remember that in most cases the agency holding them will retain the funds permanently if they go unclaimed after a specified length of time has elapsed. We believe this system is unfair and are determined to help the rightful owners claim these funds before they are lost to these government agencies forever.
You didn't ask but we thought you should know...
Each year in the United States, over $5 billion is escheated (permanently granted) to the states. Nationally, the total value of escheated property held by states is just under $50 billion – less than half of which will ever be reunited with the rightful owners. Even more unclaimed property sits dormant at government agencies, counties, municipalities, and other organizations. Some of these dollars are rightfully and legally yours! Don't leave your money on the table any longer...Get started reclaiming your share of those assets.
